Memo from ADSA about the Student Responsibilities RE: H1N1 Prevention and the Code of Discipline

DATE: 11 June 2009

MEMO TO: ALL LOYOLA SCHOOLS DEPARTMENTS, OFFICES, AND STUDENTS

FROM: Mr. Rene Salvador R. San Andres
Associate Dean for Student Affairs

RE: STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES RE H1N1 PREVENTION AND THE CODE OF DISCIPLINE

This is to remind all concerned that cooperation with all precautions taken by the University as regards the possible spread of the influenza A- H1N1 virus, is part of the responsibility of the all students. According to the Code of Discipline of the 2008 Loyola Schools Student Handbook:

"Section 1. Responsibilities
E. Students are expected to read and to respond immediately to notices posted by the University or School administrators on designated bulletin boards.
K. All students share responsibility for the creating and maintenance of a healthy, safe, and drug-free campus." (pp. 86-87)

Refusal to comply with issued memoranda as to (1) specific self-quarantine required of those who have travelled abroad from countries with confirmed H1N1 cases, (2) requirements of full disclosure of travel history and submission of proof thereof, and (3) any other future measures deemed necessary by the University, will likely be seen as an Offense Against Order, specifically, a violation of III-D. 17 of the Code of Discipline, which states:

"Section III-D. Offenses Against Order
17. Failure to perform responsibilities as students as listed in Section 1 (Responsibilities)" (p. 91)

Furthermore, those who engage in any form of dishonesty will also be charged of Misrepresentation, as indicated in Section III-E.4:

"Setion III-E. Offenses Involving Dishonesty.
Dishonesty runs counter to the very essence of the Ateneo de Manila University as an educational institution. All cases involving dishonesty will be treated as major cases.
4. Committing any form of misrepresentation." (p. 92)

Students are likewise held responsible for the behavior of persons who act on their behalf.

Anyone who wishes to reprot a violation pertaining to the aforementioned may report it to Mr. Herman Livioco at loc 5023, or email us at adsa@admu.edu.ph.

To avoid inconvenience and facilitate verification, students are asked to be ready with travel documents whenever requested by school personnel.
